Get Fired up to Play Ball in the Depot District

Moberly Community Betterment has announced the return of the Gus Macker 3v3 basketball tournament to the Moberly Depot District on September 17 & 18, 2022. This exciting and fast paced street ball tournament is held all across the United States. 2021 was the first year this tournament was held in our historic downtown.

Moberly was also honored to be the only Gus Macker host site in the state of Missouri in 2021. The event brought teams of 4 from 13 different states to play ball. The Moberly community is gearing up to expand this event in 2022 to welcome more teams to play in our downtown. Economic impact was felt from the event regionally allowing partnerships with businesses outside the community to be formed. Businesses were pleasantly surprised by the ripple of so many visitors in Moberly for the weekend.

The Gus Macker is contracted to be held again in 2023 and organizers are hopeful that every year this event will grow and develop in the heart of our community.

The Gus Macker is also held on the same weekend as Moberly's Vintage Market, Junk Junktion, the JROTC Patriot Car Show and the Mini-train's Allen Train Robbery Reenactment providing entertainment for all ages and drawing visitors into the community for a variety of purposes. Attendance was estimated to be at 6,000 in 2021. Moberly Community Betterment and the Moberly Area Chamber of Commerce are anticipating record growth again of these unique events that drive visitors into Moberly to experience our welcoming community.
